Permissible Consumption Limits of Mercury, Cadmium and Lead Existed in Otolithes Rubber

2011
The study ahead a ims at determination of permissible c onsumption l imit without harmful impacts caused by mercury, cadmium and lead in Otolithes ruber fishing from M ahshahr Port situated in northern part of the Persian G ulf as one of highest consumption ce nter of the r egion f ish. Also, it focuses on c omparison of the obtained results w ith av ailable health st andards to ex amine t he m entioned h eavy m etals i mpact on citizens’ health. For t his p urpose, 36 samples of Otolithes ruber were randomly caught fro m Musa Cove located in Mahshahr in t he f orm of tree group sizes (small, medium and big). After isolating of the muscl e t issue, the concentration of mercury exi sted i n t he t issue w as measured us ing adva nced mercury ana lyzer (Model, Leco 254 AMA). Beside, the cadmium a nd lead c oncentration accumulated in t he muscle tissue were determined by means of Graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry (GFAAS) (model: 220z, Varian, Australia). Total mercury mean (standard e rror±mean), cadmium and l ead w ere respectively meas ured equal to 36 .4 ± 456.53 (µgkg w.w), 4.47±28.99 (µgkg w.w), 18.8±126.95 (µgkg d.w) in summer and 29.1±305.69 (µgkg w.w), 19.12 -1 -1 -1 -1
