A simple method for predicting the osmotic coefficient of aqueous solutions containing more than one electrolyte

Abstract Most methods for predicting osmotic or activity coefficient values appropriate to electrolyte mixtures are fairly elaborate and usually require the use of a high speed computer. In the present paper a very simple equation is presented which can be used to make remarkably good predictions of the osmotic coefficient of aqueous electrolyte mixtures. The big advantage in its use is that the predictions can be made quickly without recourse to a high speed computer.
