Transient Interfacial Concentration at a Notched Electrode by Laser Interferometry

A notched cathode in the otherwise horizontal plane parallel, cathode-over-anode configuration of the Cu/CuSO 4 /Cu cell was monitored for concentration polarization. Refractive index/concentration profiles were recorded by laser interferometry using a 35 mm camera and a video system. To prevent convection, the electrolyte was gelled.
