Proteomic analysis of serum from patients with polycystic ovary syndrome and insulin resistance

2011
Objective: To find out disease specific-proteins(DSPs) which are closely related with polycystic ovary syndrome(PCOS) and insulin resistance(IR).Methods: The serum proteins were separated by immobilized pH gradient-based two-dimensional gel eletrophoresis(2-DE).The gels were stained by silver, scanned by gel formatter, and analyzed by using PDquest software. The differentially displayed protein spots associated with PCOS IR were searched for and identified by MALDI-T0F-MS.Results: Five DSPs were chosen for test and two DSPs were found, which were haptoglobin and RhoA protein. Conclusion:There are different protein expressions in 2D-PAGE of PCOS IR and non-IR PCOS.These proteins may be DSPs of PCOS IR,and may be the markers for diagnosis.
