NATO LA 70 DE ANI DE EXISTENȚĂ: MITURI ȘI/SAU CONTROVERSE DEZVĂLUITE PRIVIND RELAȚIA NATO-RUSIA (NATO - 70 Years of Existence: Myths and/or Controversies Revealed Concerning Nato-Russia Relationship)

Romanian Abstract: Atât Alianţa (NATO), cât si Rusia, ca succesoare a URSS, au fost supuse unei mari provocări de a realiza că nu există cale de intoarcere la vechile relaţii din decadele de confruntări, ci o necesitate istorică de a găsi o formă de coexistenţă in noul mediu de securitate. Prin urmare, in acele circumstanţe, singura soluție a fost construirea unei relaţii noi pornind de la starea existentă si privind viitorul cu incredere in loc de a face analize ale trecutului. In relația NATO-Rusia a existat o serie de controverse și s-au născut chiar unele mituri care insă au fost lămurite sau chiar demontate cu transparență de NATO. NATO nu dorește sub nicio formă o confruntare cu Rusia, ci crearea și menținerea unor relații stabile astfel incât să se mențină un nivel adecvat de incredere și transparență. English Abstract: Both the Alliance (NATO) and Russia, as the successor to the USSR, were challenged to realize that there was no way to return to the old relationships of decades of confrontation, but there was a historic necessity to find a form of coexistence in the new security environment. Therefore, in those circumstances, the only solution was to build a new relationship starting from the existing state and looking onto the future with confidence instead of making analyses of the past. Regarding the NATO-Russia relationship, there have been a number of controversies and even some myths were born that were eventually clarified or even dismantled by NATO transparency. NATO is far from seeking a confrontation with Russia, but it is rather interested in the establishment and maintenance of stable relations in ways that foster an adequate level of trust and transparency.
