A direct process for meso molecule formation at high temperature

There has been recent interest in the subject of meso‐molecule (dtμ) formation at high temperature (1 eV), and a number of complex three‐body mechanisms have been examined. We point out that, at 1 eV, simple two‐body dissociation (tμ)+D2→[(dtμ)e+(de) is the dominant process with rate ≊ 6.4×109 s−1 at liquid hydrogen density.
