2009
The objective of the study is to analyze the corporal image (CI) and degree of dissatisfaction in the after-menarche period, in 172 adolescents (16.24 ±1.12 years) with BMI (20.46±3,20). The perception of the body image was measured by the scale of silhouettes proposal by Stunkard et al. (1983) and the dissatisfaction towards the body image related to the corporal segments, by the scale of Brown et al. (1990). The data were analyzed by the descriptive and inferential statistics in SPSS 16.0. The results showed that the Current body image is 3.44 ±1.08 and the Ideal body image is 3.09 ±0.78, being that 48.8% are satisfied, 23.8%, unsatisfied and 27.3%, without alteration. The dissatisfaction with the weight excess and thinness are of 72.7%. There is considerable difference in the U Mann-Whitney test between groups of 14-16 and 17-18 concerning different corporal segments and much dissatisfaction, 82.6%, concerning inferior limbs. It was concluded that the dissatisfaction towards the excess of weight, thinness and inferior limbs goes against the levels of dissatisfaction towards the body image.
