4s ? 4p electron collision excitation of the Ar I

Excitation of the Ar I 4s levels to the 4p levels by electron collisions has been evaluated on the basis of the existing experimental data, of ab initio theoretical calculations based on the DW and FOMBT approximations and of the CTMC quasi-classical method based on the few-body problem, also using a semi-empirical formula. Excitation cross sections and rate coefficients have been obtained and used in the development of collisional-radiative models for diagnostics and modeling of Ar plasmas.
