Potential Hazards of Four Abandoned Dumping Sites within a Water Work Catchment Area

1990
There are four abandoned dumping sites within the catchment area of the battery of wells of a local water works that were filled, at different times between 1965 and 1975, with communal and industrial wastes (Fig. 1). Apart from the general risk this poses for the ground water, the following issues are involved: allocation of contaminations to the different dumps, both in terms of time and space (preservation of evidence), hazards involved for drinking water supplies, hazards involved for users of surface water.
