Autoimmune hepatitis is a form of chronic liver with variable length beginning with the progressive destruction of the hepa t- ic parenchyma without immunosuppressive regimens often progresses to cirrhosis inflammatory disease. Relatively rare, caused by unknown factors, predominantly in female patients. Diagnosis is made through clinical, biochemical, serological and histological features. It can coexist with other autoimmune diseases. In patients with abnormal liver enzymes should be excluded first frequently, such as alcohol, hepatitis B and C viruses and drugs, and other etiologies are less common, such as genetic and autoimmune causes. The treatment can be performed alone or in combinati on with azathioprine, prednisone to decrease the side effects of corticosteroids. Response to treatment was a s- sessed by improvement in signs and symptoms, improving laboratory indices of liver inflammation and liver function. Most patients achieve remissio n, but relapses are common when suspended or reduced medication.
