Optical two‐colour superfluorescence in biphenyl crystal with pyrene: the influence of crystal symmetry

2004
The influence of crystal symmetry on the polarization properties of two-colour optical superfluorescence in biphenyl crystal with pyrene is investigated both theoretically and experimentally. It is shown that polarization of superfluorescence signal is determined by the asymmetry between absorbtion and emission spectra of pyrene molecules in biphenyl, which results in polarization decoupling of pumping and superfluorescence pulses.
