a) The most common symptoms were: buzzing (47,0%), rotating dizziness (35,2%) and migraines (23,5%); b) The vestibular exam showed alterations in the caloric test in 6 patients (35,0%); c) There was a prevalence of alterations in the peripheral vestibular system and d) There were similarities in the occurrences of peripheral vestibular deficiency and irritative syndromes. Conclusion: The importance of studying the physiology of the vestibular system in patients with systemic arterial hypertension must be emphasized because it is a common disease and its diagnosis is increasing among the young population.
