Uniform Control Scheme for the Interlinking Converter Enhancing the Economy and Resilience of Hybrid AC/DC Microgrids

2018
To enhance the economic efficiency and resilience of hybrid ac/dc microgrids, this work designs a uniform control scheme for the bidirectional interlinking converter (BIC) who serves as a crucial role coupling the ac/dc subgrids. The proposed technique integrates the economical and resilient objectives of hybrid ac/dc microgrid in one control scheme. Based on the incremental-cost-droop decentralized on each distributed generator (DG), the uniform control scheme utilizes the BIC equalizing the normalized ac frequency and dc voltage. Coordinated sub-grids through the BIC, the system cost is minimized with the same incremental costs for all DGs. Besides saving the system cost, the BIC is managed to enhance the system resilience by supporting the subgrid voltages once the voltage source fails. With the bidirectional ac droop strategy, the designed control scheme is implemented without the communication and the mode switches. In a hybrid ac/dc microgrid, the proposed uniform control scheme is vindicated through various operation scenarios.
