The invention discloses an image collection control method and device and an image collector. The method comprises that at least two photosensitive areas of a photosensitive array are configured with different exposure periods; the initial exposure time of each photosensitive area is determined, the initial exposure time of the photosensitive area with a longer exposure period is earlier than that of the photosensitive area with a shorter exposure period, and exposure of the different photosensitive areas is completed within the longest exposure period; and exposure of the corresponding photosensitive areas is controlled according to the determined exposure periods and the initial exposure time. Thus, the quality of HDR images can be improved within the total exposure time which is as short as possible.
