The Economics of Dialysis in India

Chronic kidney disease is a worldwide public health problem, a social calamity and an economic catastrophe. In the year 2000, in the United States (US) alone, about 30 million people were diagnosed with chronic kidney disease (CKD). It is estimated that by 2010, six million worldwide would need renal replacement therapy (RRT) costing 28 billion dollar.[1]
