Exposure to electromagnetic radiation at the campus of an Najah university

2009
Ever since the beginning of using radio frequencies, a debate started to raise on their safety, after a number of studies, the International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation (ICNIRP) came up with standards claimed to be safe to operate within. In this paper, we are mainly concerned with studying the main sources of EMF radiation at the vicinity of the university and then to check if the combined exposure rates meet the international standards in the concerned area. The dominant EMF sources were found to be GSM900 BTS and FM transmitter. Their corresponding power density and electric field values were measured and compared with the ICNIRP standards. This has been mainly done to answer the public concern regarding being exposed to the EMF in the area.
