Expression of NgR1 in the hippocampus of rat after cardiopulmonary resuscitation

2014
Objective To investigate the NgR1 expression in the cerebrum after cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in rats. Methods Cardiac arrest was induced by alternating current in 60 S-D rats through transcutaneous electrical epicardium stimulation, and CPR was performed with Utstein mode at 6 min after CA.Rats were sacrificed at 1,3 and 7 days after CPR.We performed immunofluorescence with antibodies against NgR1 to map the distribution of NgR1 protein in the hippocampus, while Q-PCR was performed for quantitative analysis of NgR1 mRNA.Results NgR1 expression appeared elevated at 1 d and 3 d after CPR and down to the normal level at 7 d in hippocampus. The expression of NgR1 mRNA in hippocampus and cortical cortex showed the same tendency with the staining outcome. The changes were not significant between each time point compared with.baseline in either hippocampus. But there were significant differences between hippocampus and cortical cortex at each time point after the CPR (P <0.05).Conclusions Neuronal NgR1 expression is transient changed during 7 days post-CPR in hippocampus in the rats.
