Clinical study of parotid tumors statistical analysis of 211 cases.

1989
During the past ten years, 211 patients with parotid tumor were treated in the Department of Otolaryngology, Kansai Medical University. The pathological diagnosis were made according to the classification of the World Health Organization (1972).Of the 211 parotid tumors, 174 were benign and 37 were malignant. The most common tumor was pleomorphic adenoma (106 cases/50.2%), and next was adenolymphoma (25 cases/11.8%). The incidence of adenolymphoma is higher than in any previous report. However this rising incidence of adenolymphoma has been pointed out in some recent papers. We think that adenolymphoma will be diagnosed increasingly frequently because of advances in preoperative diagnostic techniques and that more patients will be referred for surgery.
