The Facts: Atrocities Investigations and the UN Security Council

This chapter sets the stage by presenting the facts relating to both atrocities investigations and the UNSC. To do so, it presents where atrocities have taken place in the post-Cold War era, and then evaluates how domestic and international atrocities investigations have been created in response to these atrocities. It proceeds to document the role of the UNSC in international affairs and the important role the UNSC’s procedural rules have in its decision-making process.
