Značaj osobno usmjerenog planiranja za osobe s intelektualnim teškoćama

2020
Person centered planning is the process of individual support creation for people with intellectual and other developmental disabilities covered by a social welfare system designed to help people create their desired future. It is an ongoing process in which, with the participation of staff, relatives and friends, a person makes decisions about priorities and goals in their lives. The purpose of this approach is to enable a person to live a self-determined life, choose various options and make decisions about their life, striving to gain new experiences and developing meaningful relationships with people who are not paid to support them. It is fully focused on the interests of people with intellectual disabilities and keeps them in the first place and is suitable for all people, regardless of their difficulties, level of functioning or form of accommodation. Person centered planning can best be seen as an evolutionary step in a long-standing trend towards increasing individualization of services and is accepted as an example of good practice in developed countries around the world. Therefore, the aim of this review is to promote the values and principles of person centered planning and propose its implementation within social work based on theoretical knowledge about the importance of person centered planning for social inclusion and improving the quality of life of people with intellectual disabilities.
