Evaluation of Celloscope 421 for the simultaneous measurement of red blood cells, haematocrit and mean cell volume.

The recent introduced Celloscope 421 has been tested. The apparatus was easy to operate and showed good electronic stability. Red blood cells (RBC), haematocrit (Hct) and mean cell volume (MCV) was simultaneous estimated with good precision. The accuracy of the three determinations, comparing the results obtained with those obtained by reference methods, decreased in the order RBC, Hct and MCV (average SD of difference: 0.08 times 1012/1, 0.017 111, and 5.1 fl, respectively). The results compare with those reported in similar equipment.
