Study of temperature controlling of a solid Fabry–Pérot etalon

The solid Fabry–Perot etalon is a widely used optical passive device in optical communications. However, the optical characteristics of Fabry–Perot etalons are temperature dependent. In this study, we designed a temperature Insulation structure and employed a PID (Proportional–Integral–Derivative) controlling algorithm. The temperature influence on the etalon transmission spectrum is also discussed according to its temperature characteristics. By analyzing the experimental data, the effects of temperature control and non-temperature control on the Fabry–Perot etalon were compared.
