Beijing Guidance Information System: Major Problems and Solutions

The 28th Olympic Games will be a great window for the world to learn about China, for approximately one million foreigners will visit China during this period. A successful Olympic Games entails a comprehensive and convenient guidance information system of Beijing. Therefore, in the short term the present research project is aimed at enhancing the information service currently available for foreign visitors during the Olympic Games. Its long-term goal is to promote the construction of a comprehensive and an accessible guidance information system in Beijing from the perspective of public management and propose feasible solutions to improve the existing guidance information performance. Therefore, the present study will attempt to investigate the following questions: 1. What kinds of problems are there in terms of Beijing guidance information, especially for foreigners? 2. What kinds of measures can we take to improve the existing information service in Beijing, both in the short run and in the long term?
