Two-dimensional theory of electromagnetically driven implosions
2003
A major programme related to the development of an electromagnetic flux compression generator as a driver for a novel microwave emitter is under way at Loughborough University. To help with the design and optimisation of the generator, a 2D computer code based on filamentary techniques was developed. The paper presents in detail this technique and identifies some of the specific results that can be obtained. The code have proven to be an essential tool in understanding the physics of implosions and of magnetic flux compression in Θ-pinch geometry. (4 pages)
