2009
Objective To develop strategies for the prevention and control of malaria infection in personnel returning from endemic areas. Methods Health education was provided to the personnel traveling to the malaria endemic areas and health check was provided after their return. Results in the prevention of infection were evaluated. Results After health education, the disease awareness and the knowledge of malaria infection in these sujects were significant increased. The questionnaire response rate(χ2=21.024,ν=1,P0.001),knowledge of the epidemic area(χ2=21.213,ν=1,P0.001) and attitude behavior(χ2=15.142,ν=1,P0.001) were significantly improved. After education, the rates of using preventive medicine were increased and the disease incidence was maintained at low level. There was a high level of coincidence between Optimal-IT and etiological diagnosis, and it could be used in the early diagnosis. Conclusion The developed strategies are effective in the prevention and control of imported malaria through the personnel returning from the endemic areas.
