NOVOS EQUINÓIDES PARA O INTERVALO APTIANO-ALBIANO (CRETÁCEO INFERIOR) DA SUB-BACIA DE SERGIPE, NORDESTE DO BRASIL

2012
The genus Salenia is described for the first time in Brazil, occurring in the Aptian-Eoalbian section of the Riachuelo Formation. Two new occurrences are also recorded, with Tetragramma malbosi (Agassiz & Desor, 1847) for the Aptian-Albian interval and Micraster (Epiaster) dartoni Cooke, 1955, for the Aptian. In addition, the chronostratigraphic range of the species Temnocidaris (Stereocidaris) malheiroi (Loriol, 1888) and Leptosalenia sergipensis (White, 1887) is extended to the Neoaptian and Tetragramma deshayesi (Cotteau, 1864) for the Neoalbian. T. malbosi, L. sergipensis and M.(E.) dartoni had lived at a protectet environment, probably represented by coastal lagoons. T. (S.) malheiroi inhabited low-energy environments, probably at the deeper areas of the basin, where his slower metabolism could be more appropriated to low-oxygen conditions. On the other hand, T. deshayesi must have preferred the high-energy environments from the Neoalbian, where they lived over consolidated substratum.
