Effect of hydrophilic gel composition on photo-physical behavior of Oxazine720

Abstract The visible absorption spectra of Oxazine 720 dye in aqueous solutions and in polyacrylamide hydrogel matrix with different compositions were studied at room temperature. The spectral properties of the dye-loaded hydrogel were also investigated. The transport and the solute–solute interactions of the ionic dye in aqueous solutions across the hydrophilic gels were calculated. The nature of the interacting pairs in this dye was discussed using the Kasha exciton theory. Also the monomer–dimer equilibrium in this ionic dye in water and in different compositions of hydrogel environment has been investigated by means of UV–Vis spectroscopy.
