Endoscopy was repeated after 6, 12, 18, and 24 months of treatment, and whenever symptoms suggested recurrence. Although the number of dropouts was high (27 in group 1, 20 in group 2, 18 in group 3 and 12 in group 4), statistical analysis by the life-table method showed that cimetidine, ranitidine, and pirenzepine had similar therapeutic value.
