Clinical analysis of acute arterial embolism in lower extremity treated by arterial embolectomy

2012
Aim:To analyze the therapeutic effects of arterial embolectomy on acute arterial embolism in lower extremity. Methods:From August 2005 to August 2010,arterial embolectomy was performed in 107 cases of acute arterial embolism(113 lower extremities). The clinical data were reviewed. Results:The average ankle-brachial index of the patients increased from(0.39±0.20) before operation to(0.89±0.22) after operation(t=13.216,P0.001).The total limbs salvage rate was 89.4%(101/113),and amputation rate was 10.6%(12/113)(χ2=9.381,P0.001).The 30 day mortality rate was 4.7%(5/107).Conclusion:Arterial embolectomy remains an effective treatment option for patients with acute arterial embolism of lower extremity.Early diagnosis and early embolectomy are conducive to improve limb salvage rate and to lower the mortality rate.
