Effects of coupling agent on dynamic rheological properties of bamboo flour/LDPE composite

2013
【Objective】 The effects of three coupling agents on compatibility and dispersion of bamboo flour/LDPE composite were analyzed to improve the the application of coupling agents on processing bamboo/plastic composites.【Method】 Using the Chinese national standards, the mechanical properties of bamboo flour/LDPE composites with three coupling agents:MAPP,MAPE,and YB-510 were measured.Through HAAKE MARSⅢ rotational rheometer, the changes of storage modulus(G’) and loss modulus(G″) of bamboo flour/LDPE composites along with strain, temperature and frequency were measured as well.【Result】 The results showed that storage modulus(G’) and loss modulus(G″) of bamboo flour/LDPE composites reduced as the increase of strain, and storage modulus(G’) reduced as the increase of temperature, increased with the increasing of frequency. When the strain was constant, the storage modulus(G’) and loss modulus(G″) of composite with MAPE were the largest, followed by YB-510 and MAPP.When the temperature was constant, the storage modulus(G’) of composite with MAPP were the smallest.Generally, the storage modulus(G’) of composite with YB-510 were less than composite with MAPE,and they were identical when temperature was about 165 ℃.When the frequency was constant, the storage modulus(G’) of composite with MAPE were the largest, followed by MAPP and YB-510.【Conclusion】 All of three coupling agents improved the compatibility between bamboo flour and low density polyethylene, and MAPP was the best. But in terms of the uniformity of composites system,YB-510 was the best.
