Study on the DNA Molecular Markers of Yak

In this paper,based on the types,characteristics and detection methods of various kinds of DNA molecular markers,the present situation and existing problems in yak genetic and breeding research of DNA molecular marker analyzing methods commonly used in the animal breeding and genetic research,such as RFLP,VNTR,AFLP,PCR-SSCP,RAPD,SNPs,microsatellite marker,DNA fingerprints and mtDNA markers etc.,have been discussed in detail,which indicated that the DNA molecular marker analysis had been involved in the research of yak origin,evolution,classification,parentage test among yak breeds and between yak and other animals,the mechanisms of male sterilization,the cloning of function genes related with economic traits,and the polymorphisms etc.The future research development and perspectives of yak breeding were also elucidated.
