P-854 - The use of technology of videotaping in psychiatric training

2012
The residency period of psychiatry is not enough for learning all details and specifications of this major. A lot of new graduated psychiatrists have to face symptoms and problems which have not dealt with during their educations. This problem becomes more outstanding when statistics shows, a lot of these new psychiatrists do not have opportunity or even inclination (or interest) to attend case presentation meetings which are held at university centers, so the base of their training is whatever they have learned during their residency. The use of regular videotaping during residency training, with regarding morality and confidentiality, can have many advantages which improve the training situations even after starting the job. Recently, we have the increase in number of accepted residents in psychiatry, and cut off scores for entering this major increases each year. Adding one year more to the duration of residency (from 3 to 4), and addition of new subjects for learning, such as psychotherapy which was not emphasized sufficiently before , are all reasons which raise the residents’ expectations from their training (or instruction) period. Starting work brings unintentional challenges in their job motivation. Here, we explain our experiences about The Use of Technology of Videotaping in Psychiatric Training for residents.
