La vulneración del derecho a la salud de mujeres y hombres transexuales frente al acceso a la reasignación de sexo (The Violation to the Right to Health of Transsexual Women and Men Before the Access to the Sex Reassignment Surgery)

Spanish Abstract: Este articulo presenta de forma analitica las barreras de acceso al derecho a la salud de las mujeres y hombres transexuales en relacion con el procedimiento de reasignacion de sexo por parte de las Entidades Promotoras de Salud en Colombia. Se realiza una propuesta en la que se insta al gobierno nacional a incorporar de forma efectiva las recomendaciones establecidas por los Principios de Yogyakarta y, a su vez, se cree un programa de atencion en salud con enfoque diferencial de genero que garantice el derecho a la salud en condiciones de igualdad para esta poblacion. English Abstract: This article presents the barriers to the access of the right to health of transsexual women and men with regard to the sex reassignment surgery by the Entidades Promotoras de Salud in Colombia. It is proposed that the government adopts the recommendations established by the Yogyakarta Principles and, at the same time, makes a public policy to provide free medical care in the aforementioned surgery and a comprehensive treatment because of their different condition to guarantee their right to health with equal opportunities.
