Purpose: Guided growth is the alteration of normal physeal growth in children and adolescents to produce a desired effect. Guided growth is used to slow the growth of the long limb in cases of leg length discrepancy, or to slow the growth of one side of a physis in angular deformity. Different internal fixation devices have been employed to achieve alteration of growth, including staples, plates, and cannulated screws.
