A LIQUID METAL-HEATED FOSSIL FUEL-FIRED SUPERCRITICAL STEAM GENERATOR

1962
The general design features of a 250 Mwe supercritical plant incorporating a liquid sodium heat transport system are presented. The reference design has been developed for oil and gas firing and can be easily extended to pulverized coal firing. Brief descriptions are given of the two-fluid'' system features and the reasons for their incorporation. Engineering and performance details of the reference design are included in an appendix. The system described appears to show 20 per cent less capital investment than a direct fired installation capable of the same performance. (H.D.R.)
