This paperfocuses onsimulation ofspecial tools for emergency control intheRussian FarEastPowerGrid. Themain purpose ofthepaperistheexploration ofpossible useofHVDC back-to-back converter stations forpowersystembraking for diminution ofnecessary size ofremoteloadshedding inreceiving partofthetransmission system. EUROSTAG software hasbeen usedtoanalyze thepossible methodsforreinforcing thepower systememergency control. An unusual waytoimprove theSPS performance hasbeeninvestigated. Theresults ofsimulation of therepeated dynamic braking coupled withunloading ofhydro- turbine attheZeyaHydroPowerPlantwiththeuseofangle differences arediscussed. Aswell, emergency control ofHVDC back-to-back converter stations attheRussian-Chinese frontier is presented.
