Arthrofibrosis after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction

2012
The reconstruction of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is a common procedure carried out in orthopaedic surgery. It affects mainly young sportsmen and women. In 2005, 32,000 surgical procedures concerning the ACL were performed in France. If surgery itself is important, so is the preoperative condition of the knee and the postoperative period. The result is very often favorable, but complications are not exceptional, especially with regard to the recuperation of joint motion. It is a problem that occurs in the shortand long-term postoperative phase.
