Wavelength-tunable optical pulse generation from a fiber ring laser with a reflective semiconductor optical amplifier

This work describes, for the first time, wavelength-tunable optical pulse generation from a fiber ring laser with a reflective semiconductor optical amplifier. The optical signal to noise ratio of this fiber laser is higher than 49 dB over the wavelength-tunable range of 16 nm. Performance of this fiber ring laser operated at different wavelengths is also discussed.
