Stress- and geroprotective properties of 20-hydroxyecdysone and its derivatives

2015
The short-term and deferred protective effects of newly synthesized 9α-hydroxy-5α-ecdysteroids were revealed in tests of short-term heat stress on the model of Musca domestica (housefly) larvae of age III, which differed in the lifespan at the imago stage. An increase and decrease in protective effects for the synthesized compounds were demonstrated, depending on their structure, in comparison with the reference compound, ecdysteroid 20-hydroxyecdysone, which was obtained from the sap of Serratula coronata. The stressand geroprotective properties of the test models were shown to be dependent on their genotypic features and the ecdysteroid structure.
