STUDY ON PREPARATION OF STABLE SLURRIES OF α-ALUMINA POWDERS WITH DIFFERENT PARTICLE SIZES

2003
The stability, dispersity, rheologic behavior of αalumina slurries with different particle size were studied by changing pH value and dispersant concentration. The results indicate that pH values and dispersant concentration affect evidently on the stability and dispersity of the αalumina slurries. The optimum pH value and dispersant concentration vary with different particle size of αalumina powders, from which the highly stabilized and dispersed ceramic slurries are prepared. Rheological behaviors of αalumina slurries appear shearing thinning and the viscosity of slurry increases with the increasing of solid loading, but the optimum amount of dispersant is independent on the solid loading.
