Study on population dynamics of aphid, Rhopalosiphum maidis on maize

2015
Astudy on population dynamics of aphid, R. maidison maize variety GS11 indicated that the incidence of aphid, Coccinellid and Chrysoperla predators commenced from 31st to 32nd standard week and reached the peak level at 38thto thstandard week, respectively. The correlation study revealed that pest population exhibited negative non-significant correlation with maximum temperature, minimum temperature and rainfall, while non-significant positive correlation with morning relative humidity, evening relative humidity, bright sunshine and wind velocity. Higher grain yield was recorded in treated plots. The yield loss due to aphid was 625 kg/ha, while avoidable loss was 30.23 per cent.
