Experimental study on possible effect of Xuebijing and Verapamil in the ischemia-reperfusion injury of rat's small intestine
2013
Objective
To study the effect of Xuebijing and Verapamil during ischemia-reperfusion injury of rat’s small intestine and assess the possible mechanism.
Methods
Rat model of small intestine I/R injury was used. 50 SD rats were randomly divided into pseudoperation group(group A), ischima-reperfusion group(group B), Xuebijing group(group C), Verapamil group(group D) and Xuebijing plus Verapamil group(group E). During the small intestine ischemia 45 minutes and reperfusion 0, 2 hours, the level of TNF-α, IL-1β and MDA in the serum were determined; the pathological changes of intestinal mucosa were examined respectively.
Results
There were evident pathological changes of the intestinal mucosa in group B. The levels of TNF-α, IL-1β and MDA in groups B,C,D,E were significantly higher than that in group A at 0 h and 2 h of reperfusion(P<0.05). The levels of TNF-α, IL-1β and MDA in groups C,D,E were significantly lower than that in group B at 2 h of reperfusion(P<0.05). But there was no significant difference between group C and group D. The levels of TNF-α, IL-1β and MDA in groups C, D were obviously higher than that in group E(P<0.05).
Conclusions
Xuebijing and Verapamil can reduce rat intestinal ischemia-reperfusion injury. The protective effect will be more significant when they are combined .
