Charge transfer cross sections and equilibrium fractions for 1–25 keV H+ ions incident on a Na vapor target

Abstract Measurements of the equilibrium fractions and the total charge transfer cross sections σ +0 and σ +− are reported for 1–25 keV H + ions incident on a Na vapor target. The maximum value of the H − ion equilibrium fraction is 0.101 at 2 keV. The cross section σ +0 has a maximum value of 6.80×10 −15 cm 2 at 3 keV and falls to 1.75×10 −16 cm 2 at 25 keV. The cross section σ +− has a value of 1.90×10 −16 cm 2 at 2.5 keV and falls to 3.6×10 −17 cm 2 at 10 keV.
