Efficient Eu3+ luminescence in non-lanthanide host lattices

Abstract In MgO and BaZrO 3 part of the Eu 3+ ions show efficient luminescence upon charge-transfer excitation. This agrees with a model given before and assists in the search for a cheap red phosphor.
