BMI-Referenzwerte für österreichische Knaben und Mädchen

2015
BMI Reference Values for Austri- an Boys and Girls. BMI reference values are recommended to diagnose thinness, overweight, and obesity in children and adolescents. National reference values for Austria in acceptable quali- ty were not available so far. Therefore, a sample of more than 15.000 children and adolescents be- tween 4 and 19 years of age was drawn in this cross-sectional study. Sex-specific BMI centiles matching BMI values at age 18 years, which are used for defining thinness, overweight, and obe- sity in adults, were calculated using the GAMLSS model. Overall, 18 % of boys and 12 % of girls were classified as overweight, further 5 % of boys and 3 % of girls were obese. Overweight and obesity is a big problem in Austrian children and adolescents.
