An experimental study of hydroerosion of surface of a chill metal under the influence of an abrasive-liquid ultra-jet

The paper proposes the formulation of the problem of wear of components of the cutter block of a waterjet machine and an initial (preparatory) stage of its solution. Samples were made, the device was assembled and the machine was set up for the experiment. The impact of a hydroabrasive jet on a sample frozen in liquid nitrogen was assessed. The results of measurements of the parameters of hydro-cavity formed as a result of the impact of an abrasive-liquid ultra-jet were obtained. A comparative analysis of the informative parameters of hydroerosion of the frozen and control sample was conducted. The obtained results of experimental studies were discussed and the change in the sturdiness of the cooled metal from the ultra-jet action was estimated. Recent advances in the intersection of ultra-jet processing and cryogenics were considered. The prospects for further research in this area of knowledge are considered.
