three species as being described by "Oliver (1989)," but these taxa are actually attributed to Oliver (1984); there is no mention of either Oliver (1984) or Oliver (1989) in the bibliography and, to the best of my knowledge, Oliver (1989) does not exist. It also seems as though Konings conducted this expedition for a limited time period, and some of his surmised biological explanations suffer as a result. For example he claims that very few cichlids (especially non-mbuna) breed in Jan.-Feb. and that this could be a good time for migrating non-cichlids to breed. In the Cape Maclear region of the lake, the non-mbuna show a bimodal breeding seasonality with a primary peak in Aug.-Sept. and a secondary peak in Feb. One of the more notable of the non-cichlid
