Impacts des barrages de Diama et de Manantali sur les nappes de la vallée du fleuve Sénégal

1999
In the Sahelian climate, the efficient management of surface water resources which often have seasonal run-off conditions, needs to be carried out through development schemes. Besides expected positive effects, these development schemes have negative impacts which must be well known and minimized in order not to compromise their purpose. In the case of great basins rivers large scale structures can be set up and the impacts to be reduced can be widely complex. This paper presents the case of the Senegal River Basin where development schemes have been implemented in the framework of OMVS, aiming at improving water resource m a n a g e m e n t . In th i s respect , actions have been taken to followup the impact of thes'e development sche-mes on the underground water quantity and the first results obtained.
