Influence of Fiber Surface on the Fine Structure of Deposited Pyrocarbon

1991
The new method of X-ray analysis of carbon materials is used to study carbon fibers (CF) and low-temperature pyrocarbon (LTPC). This method allow to assess the influence the carbon fiber structure on the structure of deposited pyrocarbon. The aim of this study is to determine basic structural parameters of pyrocarbon. It is established that the high temperature modifications of pyrocarbon substructures have the interlayer distance of 0.335 and 0.344 nm and that the presence in CF of high-ordered carbon phase leads to change in structure of deposited low-temperature pyrocarbon.
