Superconductivity of uranium based metallic glasses

Abstract Rapidly quenched U-X alloys with X=Fe, Co, and Ni were prepared. Superconducting transition temperatures, upper critical magnetic fields, electrical resistivities and magnetic susceptibilities were investigated. T c is compared with earlier results on the corresponding crystalline samples, it is clearly reduced in the amorphous state. The results are analyzed and discussed in connection with UPS measurements and in the frame of the spin fluctuation model.
